This is a brand new Eastman El Rey 3. This was a special order item through a major east coast dealer. When I received it, I found that this scale length and I have arguments about where my fingers are supposed to be. Anyway, it is one of the most beautiful instruments I have ever seen. Somehow they got the mahogany to glow like a setting sun in the bursts, with a gradual fade to a red based black. It has the curly maple binding. I have not filed the warranty registration yet, so that would be available to the buyer. It is probably best used for jazz, classical, flamenco, or folk. It has a very open sound to it that does not really seem suited to rock. More like celestial sounds. The fretboard is definitely a jazz board. It is ebony. The top is lightly flamed maple carved to shape, with a carved mahogany back. It has a three-piece mahogany neck. I wouldn t play it in a place where Jack Daniels or beer is the main drinks, but maybe where they sell wines I can t pronounce or exotic mixed drinks. It would work well as a stand alone, too. If you don t look like Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom, this guitar can be a conversation starter. Incredible body and finish work. There is one line appearing under the finish near the bottom wing and one hint of lacquer overlap about .25 long.
